Anna Marie Atema, L.C.S.W. / Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Anna Marie Atema is a licensed clinical social worker with a practice that includes individual and marital therapy with children, adolescents and adults. Practice specialties include treatment of depressive and anxiety disorders. Ms. Atema has extensive training and experience in treating childhood trauma. This includes issues of child abuse and neglect as well as coping with significant losses.
Ms. Atema has worked with children in foster care where she provided advocacy and collaborated with legal systems. She provided individual and family therapy to treat a variety of areas that included the loss of family members, school related issues, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depressive symptoms, social skills, crisis intervention, legal issues, future planning, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and promoting child advocacy. She assisted families with stabilization, and taught parenting and coping skills to help maintain stability.
Ms. Atema’s current practice has expanded to include treatment for marital conflict, substance abuse, grievance, and issues of divorce. Her practice also includes work with young adults to address struggles with relationships, employment, adjustment problems, and issues with self-esteem.
She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and is a certified school social worker.
