Dr. Watter earned his doctorate from New York University and completed
post-doctoral training at the Institute for Rational-Emotive Therapy
in New York City. He is licensed as both a psychologist and a marriage
counselor. In addition to his private practice, he is a Clinical
Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at New
York College of Osteopathic Medicine, a Clinical Instructor of Obstetrics,
Gynecology, and Women's Health at UMDNJ-NJ Medical School, and an
adjunct Professor of Psychology at both Seton Hall and Fairleigh
Dickinson Universities. He is also a member of the medical staff
at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey.
A former consulting editor for the JOURNAL OF SEX EDUCATION AND
THERAPY, and the author of several professional articles, Dr. Watter
is board certified in both sex therapy and behavioral medicine.
He is a member of several professional organizations including The
American Psychological Association; The New Jersey Psychological
Association; The American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors,
and Therapists; The Association for the Advancement of Behavior
Therapy; The Society for Sex Therapy and Research; The Association
for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers; The International Society for
the Study of Women's Sexual Health; The North American Society of
Psychosocial Obstetrics and Gynecology; and the Morris County Psychological
