| The Sports Psychology Program at the
Morris Psychological Group, P.A. offers a wide variety of services
including helping individual athletes improve their performance
by learning and developing their mental skills, learning to improve
concentration and focus, learning relaxation techniques, overcoming
performance anxiety, increasing confidence, motivation and self-discipline,
learning to control one's emotions and changing negative thinking.
Additionally, the sports psychology program can help the athlete
with other issues such as learning how to deal effectively with
the psychological aspects of injury as well as handling the stresses
involved with balancing athletics with everyday life.
In addition to working with individual athletes, the Sport Psychology
Program can also benefit teams and their coaches. We consult with
teams and offer services that include team building and maintaining
team cohesion, developing effective communication between coaches
and players as well as between team members, and conflict resolution.
We also help both the individual athlete and teams in developing
effective pre-event routines and in setting goals.
We offer workshops throughout the year on developing mental skills
for specific sports. We have helped athletes improve their mental
skills and performances in numerous sports, including golf, tennis,
baseball, basketball, football, running, skiing, and figure skating.
We work with athletes at all levels of skill and development from
the amateur youngster to the world-class athlete.
